Not a good comparison ralph. I worked in the Airline Industry for years and the result is that I am a white knuckle flyer.
It would take about a million words to cover what I know and have seen while working on aircraft .

For a number of years I could fly anywhere in the world for free. I never took advantage of the service. Do I fly ? Yes when I have to.

If you dig deep enough you will find accounts of people who have free fallen from an aircraft from 10,000 ft- some black out but the odd one has been awake all the way down. Wrap yourself in a tumbling aircraft and you could experience that terror for 20 minutes.

So lets not compare a plane crash to the stock market. If you think the stock market could hit 0 and everyone on board will die then the comparrison might be fair. The market has brakes , it has parachutes but the last commercial plane I flew on did not have parachutes and the brakes do not work in the air.

Matter of fact , the personal on board get really upset when I bring my chute on board.
