re: We're paralyzing ourselves with these fears. You might focus on the fear of terrorism and how that's being exploited by the right-wingers in charge, but I see left-wingers exploiting the fear of a police state all the time, so they're no better. At least one of those fears is grounded in a history-changing event. The other fear has been the same song over and over again by media sensationalists.

The second fear was written into the constitution by the founding fathers. It's the basis of this country, the basis of democracy.

You're right. Bush won an election using fear.

but I see left-wingers exploiting the fear of a police state all the time, so they're no better.

I see a president with too much power and too little sense. It's not conjecture, it's real. We're stuck in a bloody war, and that's palpable.

The other fear has been the same song over and over again by media sensationalists.

The media has given these guys a free pass...big time...
