It's been fun looking at those pictures. I've tried to add value to the sorting process. Finding out when each picture was taken made it almost like a little cinema of random images. Very cool. Sorting is hard. I scanned most.

I found a posed picture with my extended family and the newly hatched (two cousins). I labeled the back because I know who everyone was in the picture and put down their birth year. This may become an important image for someone in my lineage. It was like signing a time capsule. If it survives (a good chance in hard copy - fair in soft copy) and is found by someone who values it (quite possible), then I will have given them an anonymous gift. They'll be thinking' "Gee, thanks for this!" ... and I'll be saying "Your welcome."

You know, until fairly recently girl children did play with dolls until about 14. And my girlfriend whose cousin lived in Austria told me that when she visited her family there a few years ago, 14-year-old girls still played with dolls, and slept with their teddy bears also. Isn't that refreshing?

I read to my daughter until she was around eleven, every night, I think. And then after that, we still read Christmas stories every year for a few years. I tried really hard to be traditional and old-fashioned for as long as she was interested.
