Rael says the aliens did it:

skepdic.com

he was in a volcano near Clermont-Ferrand, France, when he saw a UFO "7 meters in diameter made of a very shiny silver metal and moving in a total silence." He says a radiant being emerged and entrusted him with a message revealing the true origin of mankind.

...all life on earth was created in alien laboratories.

I think the alien was playing a big funny joke on Claude and probably went back to the mothership to yuk it up with his buddies. To quote Jimmy Buffet, "I hear universal laughter ringing out among the stars."

"There is a difference between evolution and first causes"

Exactly! And the only way a first cause could logically exist is if there were a state of absolutely no energy which suddenly (magically) changed into energy. Because all forms and events flow from energy. In other words...a "first cause" supposes a "nothing". And this is what the world wishes to worship. Day after dreary day they pray to nothing--while the wonder of life is trampled under foot.
