Anthony had a gift for connecting, on SI the fact that his connections were in many cases offensive didn't pass the community by, SI readers would follow Anthony just to see what he was going to do next. The mace is a crushing weapon, the crushees never did learn to appreciate the force of the blows, Anthony had a loud voice and he made room for himself. I am not a fan of piling onto the wounded but the people who took the opportunity to land a few blows of their own certainly aren't the primary driver in this trial, they are just on one side of the tape or the other. I am not sure if Anthony created any administrative records, but I wouldn't be surprised. I think he managed to do a lot of things that aren't really easy to do in this place. Anthony's information was good, that much is very clear from all the testimony we have heard so far. The prosecutor has to focus on motive, the jury is going to. People come here in an attempt to save their money, to lose less, to get ahead in the market, Anthony saved a lot of readers money. The fact that he pointed out illegal promotions to accomplish this task really created a lot of furor. I was never closely involved with Anthony and I don't understand your bitterness at people who chose to trade on his information. There were camp followers who didn't trade on the information but did hang around and participate in the personal attacks, there were also those who never said anything personal, it was all business. The mob mentality that seems to dominate a lot of investment related discussion is never healthy, I agree with that. The manipulation of view is another facet of life in here that I have often commented on, perhaps too subtly at times. In a recent story I pointed out an investor who purchased shares in a company only to have the company delisted three weeks later, the decision to purchase was a bad decision in my mind. Why ? Because a prominent SI bear had already called that company a scam, not a bad investment, but an outright scam. For reasons that are not clear to me, the investor still purchased the stock, I think he may have been speaking his mind by spending his money, his view may have been manipulated.
