That would be a brilliant PR move and I believe it sends the right message to the voters about Republicans commitment to fair and open elections. I also think it would show voters that, although we disagree with the way this was handled, we will not hold them hostage or hold them up for huge expenses to drag out the process.

The silver lining in all this will be that, if Rossi is not ultimately seated as governor, he will likely make a run for Maria "Can't Do" Cantwell's senate seat in 2006. I think he'd win that one handily, now that he's got statewide name recognition.

Incidentally, Cantwell won in 2000 against Slade Gorton in yet another close election decided by a recount in King County. Any bets that the count was similarly tainted?

For anyone interested, Cantwell made her money at Real Networks and dumped huge sums of her own dough into her 2000 campaign.

Someone needs to go to jail.
