The only person I know that has a valid insight on SI on the middle east posted this. His opinion is valid because he is from there. "The main problem is not with getting the answers but with looking at the validity of the questions. For example: "Why do they resent our freedoms? " This question cannot be answered because it has a perceptual problem. All beings embrace thier own autonomy in walking their path in life. However, 'they' would view some of what we label as freedom to be something else. 'They' would label much of what we represent as an agenda to corrupt the innocent and pure. With the freedom of expression, for example, should come some protections that my 'expressions' will not harm 'their' child. 'They' do not veiw the system as responsibly providing these protections. 'They' want the 'freedom' to establish order that they 'believe' leads to the most whole some and decent lives for their constituency. It is my view that the body of literature supporting 'their' view has been corrupted in the direction of fascism. Note: This is my view on the extremist 'Insurgent' forces, not middle easterners in general. Most, just like you and I want autonomy for themselves and a system that is fair to them and theirs. In order to get at the questions you ask, you should first recognise that it isn't all just a reaction to what America stands for. The extremists are proactively fighting to change the world according to their fundamental vision of what they think it should be. "Why do they hate us....?"
