Far from resenting our freedoms, many hard line Muslims see our freedoms as signs of decadence, and part of the illness of the West, which they would prefer did not infect their shores. The hard line Muslims have much in common with hard line Christians (and orthodox Jews, for that matter), all these groups are terrified of liberalism, and are very reactive TO liberalism and to freethinkers, and all these groups wish to live in a golden age of religious law that never existed as very golden. These groups want to repress people who think differently; these groups would like to see women in the home, taking care of children (with or without Burka); all these groups really don't want anything like the protections for minorities we have in our constitution in the US; and these groups all use extreme propaganda to dehumanize the "infidels". All these groups have historically treated some other group so badly that we could classify their treatment of the other groups as genocidal. It's funny, these very extreme groups have so much in common, and yet they loathe each other. I find that very interesting. People can be such funny creatures- so illogical- and so violent in their opinions and actions.
