Mary C, When peaceful people are being attacked by the likes of Bin Laden, and Hussein, it doesn't take a message from God to know what to do. Despots such as those two, will make every attempt to widen their scope of terror, and need to be stopped before they are able to gain even more power, and weaponry, before they are capable of killing even more innocent people. In Iraq, our troops have given extensive warnings to those that are supposed to be innocent, to get out of the areas being controlled by the terrorists. Since some of them refused to budge, they may be killed in the ensuing combat. The fact that they refused to seek safety, knowing that an attack is coming, makes me wonder just how innocent they really are. The give the impression of supporting the terrorists, which makes them a fair target, but in any combat action, some innocents will die, or be wounded. Every life that was ruined by the 9/11 attack, was innocent, but that didn't deter the enemy. We must meet fire with fire, and regrettable as it is, some will die. War never has been, or ever will be, a precise operation. That is not the nature of the beast.
Stalin, and his ilk, may have claimed to be socialistic, but in fact he was a dictator, and few if any, socialistic ideals were a part of his regime. The point of hitting the enemy as hard as we can, prevents such a maniac to gain enough power to increase his realm.
Regardless of any gun law that may be enforced, the bad guys are going to always have guns. They know how to get them on the black market, and if necessary, build their own. Just imagine if ONLY the bad guys have guns. The good guys would be in the position of sheep being herded to the slaughter house, with no means of defense. Most Americans are willing to die in the defense of their families, and their country, but the need to tools in order to perform that service. Sometimes, things happen so fast on the local scene, that no specified force, such as the army, police, or what, can be of much help, and it is up to those under attack to be able to defend themselves. That was the basic definition of a militia, but that has been expanded beyond reason among those groups that are attacking America from within.
I have no idea of where you are from, but you don't seem to understand the ploy of a Texas cowboy. That ploy has been used, successfully, for many decades. By acting a little horsey, saying "aw shucks", and kicking dirt with their boots, they give their opponents the idea that they are stupid hicks, and don't have a clue about what is going on around them. That makes it easier for the cowboy to rope the calf, flip him onto the ground, and burn that brand into his haunch. |
