I may be wrong, but I think that the reason why RB stays around in its deplorable state is that its interface allows for easy review of alpha based stock message boards.

Finding existing stock boards may make it easier for someone new here, but you are right, organizing in my own subject marks would be better. I don't know how you encourage individuals to start boards and perhaps it may be worthwhile for SI to start stock boards, at least perhaps on some of the more actively traded ones. Just a suggestion. My feeling is that so many people are turned off by RB and Yahoo that they would willingly go to a moderated site that had the features which keep them at those other places. On yahoo, it's ease of getting into a message board after getting a quote or news and on RB, it's the alphabetical role of stocks on one's own home page.
