It's really quite simple as I have now figured it out. They look at votes like my wife looks at money in the household.

My money is her money
her money is her money
the kids money is her money.

See, really quite simple.

Reading minds? Hardly. Reading the ballot is all that is needed.

Gregoire's bubble was filled in for governor, Rossi's was not. Part of both names were written in, but the bubble was left blank.

If Rossi's bubble was filled in, that would have been a vote for Rossi.

If the doodled write in bubble was filled in then that would be a vote for Christine Rossi...whoever she is.
