ish - it is a mixture of ash and chemicals. Nothing melts the ice when the temp is below 30. The Lawn Larrys bitch & moan as the ash gets plowed in their yard. They rake what they can, use the blower too. Then you will see them on their hands and knees picking it out piece by piece. One of them had a little damage,, no way to wait on it to recover itself. The patch was expanded, dug up, and reseeded. A month later he was seen doing it again. When asked 'why', he said the color was off a shade and he HAD to re-reseed. Another is out nearly daily on his hands and knees. He picks weeds, seedlings from the straw the lanscapers used when seeding, and blades that do not look healthy or the right color (honest-- color of individual blades matter!). He pulls the offensive blade out, root and all. Then adds a gram or two of soil, a seed or two, a touch of magical fertilizer, and is off hunting the next offensive blade. These guys have serious problems-- mentally not with their lawn. When the neighbor asked my wife something she was polite to 'Larry',, only later did I remind her she may want to call him Phil. I only put fertilizer down twice-- these guys hit it at least 5 times (plus stuff to kill non-existant subsurface bugs),,,,, you could not tell which lawn was fed more.
