Democracy was alien to the far East at one time. And to Latin America. And if you go back far enough it was alien to every culture. So this "democracy is alien" cultural argument is not much of an argument. ..countries experienced problems soon after they adopted democracy.. What unique problems does democracy bring? US has not been squeaky clean and honorable in its drive to democratize countries like Iraq. Sounds like a good cause to me. But the point is to denigrate America, I recongize. So even if it does something good, it must be presented as bad by the left.
