They've also talked about being aware during the holidays.

<<An irresistible ingredient for getting elected just might be to tell the voters they are right to be afraid and only we, Team Bush, can protect you.>>

Thats not what won the election for Bush. While the terror threat may be reduced its still a distinct possibility. The reason its been reduced is in part because we have broken the cohesiveness of these groups to the point where I question whether they can mount an attack anywhere other than on a local basis near them. The strike happened under the Bush watch but so did the action against the threat. And unlike the WTC bombing in 93, some embassy bombings in the late 90's and the USS Cole bombing, this strike has been a major wake-up call to the middle east countries where much of it starts. Furthermore, I personally don't think Kerry came across very well in the sense that he didn't energize his own base. Religious fanatics and stupid people were not the reason Bush won either. I'm sure kerry hade his fair share of votes from both those groups as well. So IMO the reason Bush was elected again was because he was proactive against terror in a big way and the economy had come a long way from the Clinton market collapse and 9/11 recession. It's not at the pace that things were at in the late 90's but I remember a time when it was unthinkable to grow the economy faster than 2.5%. So maybe we have slower growth and some bumps ahead but thats been pretty normal for the US economy for a long time with just a few exceptions
