The two firms are pretty equal in terms of production,
reserves, and resources, but GFI has about double the
market capitlaization, reflecting better quality mines
in RSA and diversification.

Harmony has to do something, but this is pretty bold and
Norilsk remains a wildcard. I'm not sure the combined
firm will better, just different.

I'm surprised Anglogold has not done anything, since buying
out JV partners (Randgold, IAMGold) to get majority ownership of
some good mines (Morila, Sadiola, Yatela) would make sense.
