CB, The dilution of alcohol with water, or any other mixer one would chose, only serves the purpose of reducing the amount of alcohol that is consumed with a drink. At the drunk farm, we were told that the liver can detoxify only one ounce of alcohol in an hours time. If anymore than that is consumed, there is damage to the liver. How much alcohol is consumed during each hour determines the amount damage done. After years of over loading the liver with a substance it cannot process, the liver is damaged so severely, that it can become beyond repair. What happens then can be very painful, and create a huge mess, in more ways than one, which quite often which ends in death.

If one is lucky enough to quit before the liver is damaged beyond repair, and the proper treatment is used, death can be avoided, and the liver can regenerate itself, and be able to function until some other problem causes death.

My point is, to be absolutely safe, leave the damned stuff alone, but moderate drinking can be enjoyed as long as it doesn't accelerate into habitual use, or addiction.
