To: ralfph who wrote (6068 ) 12/24/2004 6:59:18 PM From: marcos Read Replies (1) | Respond to of 8273 Nope, she's grand but not in that way ... i do have friends, younger than i by a fair bit, who have a granddaughter old enough to babysit her ... so it'll all work out, ahem ..... was there life before kids? - don't know but i suspect not, because that's how i recall it all starting for me What's your first memory? ... for me the first real clear one is being on sort of a porch above a patio, in a new invention called sunshine that hadn't been around for months previously, and all the awareness that came with this of the way seasons change and have huge effect on us ... of course then i thought winter was beat once and for all, big disappointment the next fall when it came round again ... but you can get used to that, i found eventually, and make use of it It's not just tax loss that causes people to dump stocks they're tired of at this time, imho - it's mood that gets pulled down as the light dims, then is released as the days get longer .... it's all about Light, or lack thereof ... leaving aside for the moment the theory that light is just a relative absence of the prime force Dark ... but look at the sikhs and hindus with their Festival of Light, they know, even though they're from a lower latitude where you'd think the difference wouldn't matter as much ... it matters still at seventeen degrees, for sure, of course there it is welcome because it makes the day liveable .... but just knowing that tomorrow will be longer by some fraction of a second, and that the rate of increase will increase, however temporarily, that's pretty good ... no wonder the christians followed on with the Saturnalia thing, as the romans had before them of course, this all goes back to the roots ... this was going to lead back to the stock theory but i've been sent to town .... later .... cheers
