hmm... just a "croc-reading" of your dream:

Sounds a bit like the kinds of dreams that I have when I'm feeling a bit frustrated that things aren't moving along in my life, and that I'm being held back of prevented from what I'd really rather be doing. The difference in my own dream is that there is a recurring motif of a staircase -- the kind of staircase that winds its way around a central light well like you see in old buildings such as museums or in universities. There are a lot of landings and corridors going off into darkness, and I have to get to an upper floor. There usually seems to be some time involved -- an appointment or a deadline. There are usually people going up and down around me, and often, the stairs end abruptly -- just stop and then open space, but might resume again a coupld of yards higher up. I have to either turn around, or leap, or walk along handrails to continue on my way. All very frustrating. There are usually symbolic things along the way that remind me in some way of the things that seem to be weighing me down or holding me back in real life.

The online dream dictionary, which I know we all will accept with the utmost respect and confidence, says that dreaming of yourself in a wheelchair "suggests that you need to stand on your own two feet and stop depending on others. Perhaps you are feeling helpless. Alternatively, it indicates that you are literally letting others push you around. You need to start standing up for yourself."

That should get a good laugh from all here who know you on the politics threads.

Although I do think the feeling helpless thing could be related to the challenge you are taking on next semester, taking off on your own-- even in a wheelchair--sounds pretty independent to me.
