>>>Great posts and thanks for bringing balance here.

Thanks and I will continue to mine obscure nuggets of information backed by links and offer my opinion and state it as such. Unlike the paid wannabe professionals if you know what I mean. I pity the unaware readers of Frontmed's bilge and follow his deleterious advice.

One nugget to look at is that Sirius will offer hometown announced broadcast of the NFL playoffs including the Super Bowl this season. This is my opinion, but based on DD on my part. I believe there will be a PR on this subject soon. Will this affect the pps? Maybe, maybe not. The Maxim Radio channel on Sirius will debut on Super Bowl weekend (this has been said by the DJ's on Maxim during preview shows). I look for a Sirius presence at the Super Bowl. More great exposure that will lead to more subs that will lead to higher pps.

I also talked to a NHL head coach and his assistant coach last week. They are hopeful that the Strike will be resolved and the players will start the season at the end of January. He put the odds at 50/50. If they do play, the timing could not be better as the CRTC is expected to allow XM and Sirius to initiate broadcast and more importantly sign up Canadian subscribers sometime in the first quarter.

IMO, given a choice, the majority of the potential Canadian satrad subscribers will go with Sirius due to the NHL and a better line up of content. Sirius is much better positioned to broadcast to Canada as it will need only 9 repeaters to cover Canada while XM will need 200 or more. Sirius anticipated a start cost of less than $50 million while XM’s Canadian partners are expecting to spend nearly $250 million. This information is from the respective companies’ application to the CRTC. Something that the XM tout does not like to talk about.
