i figure Hagel and McCain are running for president next time. both voiced concerns over Iraq troop strengths and took a shot at Rummy on this lack (fabricated) of welding steel on vehicles... Lott joined the group and i think his resentment is against Rumsfeld's military changes and perhaps loss of large contracts to Lott's state. I believe the last air craft carrier we built was in Lott's state. Lugar seemed quiet or I missed his coming out against Rumsfeld during the last awakening. Maybe he is getting a little older and was sleeping in. Whatever their agenda , it does not help our men and women in Iraq or the military imo McCain and hagel do not need to be on the evening shows or talking to nytimes, washington post. Best they do what they were sent to congress to do , in committees and networking. these guys lost my vote next time around... unless like jdn says what if Hillary is the other choice... oh well. g
