I'd go with grackles. They look like small crows and when they migrate they fly in flocks that can number in the thousands. They can fill your yard and if you blink they are all gone.

They come through here in huge flocks, but don't stay longer than a week or so. Huge flocks that wheel about in the sky. They're not spooked by people, either. When we're sitting outside of the coffeeshop a few of them will hop up next us looking for food.

Last year there was a one-legged grackle with the flock. It didn't seem to bother him much, he'd balance on the one leg without any problem.
