General Boykin asserted his views in speeches that he delivered in his military uniform at religious functions around the country. In one speech, referring to a Muslim fighter in Somalia, the general said: "Well, you know what I knew - that my God was bigger than his. I knew that my God was a real God, and his was an idol."

General Boykin was forced to apologize after media accounts led to widespread criticism. But the Bush administration is still holding him tightly in its embrace. How difficult is it to come to the conclusion that this is not a fellow who should be making decisions on matters involving armed conflict with Muslims?

Its all sickeningly transparent. Boykin is still around because Rummie likes is his religious background....it pleases the religious right. They knew what Boykin was when they hired him.....that's why they have him where he is.

And Rummie is around because Bush likes what he's doing. He knows what Rummie is like.....however, he's exactly what Bush thinks we need. They don't care what the rest of us think. They know their moves are controversial but they have 52% of the population behind them. And that statistic doesn't really matter because they didn't care when they had less than 50% of the population behind them.

They are the butthole neighbor done the street that leaves broken down cars on his front lawn. They are the butthole guy on the freeway who won't wait his turn and cuts in front of you. They are the buttholes who exceed the game limits for hunting and fishing. They are the buttholes on the plane who take up more than their own seat. They are the butthole in the audience of a city meeting who is screaming at the top of his lungs about gov't spending.

They have an agenda and they are determined to implement it, and the rest of us be damned. They are just smart enough to be dangerous. And frankly, I am tired of sharing the country with them.
