Gus > when the Pentagon will have secured all the oilfields in Saudi Arabia and Iraq (at the cost of thousands of lives), China will quietly --and bloodlessly-- pump billions of barrels out of Canada, Venezuela, Nigeria, Angola, Lybia, Russia,... you name it! Makes sense, doesn't it?

In my opinion, and with respect, your argument doesn't prove anything one way or the other. That China is thirsty for oil and is doing whatever it can to get it does not preclude the US/UK's own aspiration for global, and especially Mid East, control of oil resources. And that is control for its own sake and not necessarily for their own use. And that is also not to say that sweet, little Israel wouldn't like to get its fingers on a pipeline from Mosul to Haifa -- and the rest. And why not? I'm sure you've seen on TV the way hyenas devour the carcass of a buck they have just killed. If you haven't, then watch what happens to the oil resources in Iraq. In fact, if there's anything left of Iraq, other than the oil, when the plunder is over I'll be very surprised.

Meanwhile, and as you know, Russia and France have already lost out on oil concessions which they both previously held.
