When I voted for him (gosh was it 92?) it was his first run. He struck me as a straight shooter who I didn't agree with on every issue but overall an honest guy. He didn't have all the answers to all the problems and never claimed he did. When he didn't know he said "I don't know." That was very different from the political machines that will belt out any answer off the top of their head. He was a much different candidate. Now Herb Kohl I'm not that big a fan of. He's done a lot for Wisconsin but I just don't know if he's been all that effective a Senator.
