RE: "Yes, this is pathetic. I recall a story in a local paper a few years back about a person who robbed a convenience store for $3000 I think it was, and was sentenced to I believe a year in prison. Yet Ebbers, Lay, Winnick, etc all walk with the aid of lawyers who know how to maneuver the system."

It's amazing how lawyers can work the system.

Poor Joe can't afford a lawyer, so he's stuck with crumbs.

At some point, it would be great to see a clean system. But I think we're stuck with this corruption until maybe another generation or so after things get worse and reach a boiling point. As it stands right now, people aren't aware of how the system is rigged for the rich - it's not like they can easily get the info from Walmart or H&R Block.

Amy J

A nice oceanfront mansion in Florida used to cost about $5 million a decade ago. Now, thanks to government's inflationary policies it costs about $20 million. Which means that it would take $40 million of gross income to buy it.

Since every CEO,CFO, realtor, mortgage broker, bond trader etc. deserves to own one, where do you think will they get the money ? Old $800,000 salary + 1 million dollar bonus will not cut it anymore.

That is why in times of high inflation fraud and corruption increases significantly.
