I recently saw a poll in which 92% of Americans said they believed in God. In other words, 92% of the people believe in some kind of "Intelligent Design Theory".

I see no problem with a teacher saying something like "some people believe in the theory of evolution, some people believe in an Intelligent Designer, and some people believe in a combination of both or neither." The truth is no one really knows.

Since evolution has been taught in schools for years, I think the biggest hue and cry will come from the Darwin believers.

<<Of course not. Which is why evolution is only a conflict for those who insist upon a literal interpretation of the Bible. Other Christians can just integrate science and their religion and move on.>>

Back when I was in high school my church wanted to have a debate about if evolution existed. Since I was a public school student I got the pro evolution side against the school science teacher. My position was that God had created but but way back, longer than the Bible says, then evolution has been taking place by the hand of God and nature. Boy, that went over well. I was lucky to get out of there alive and that was 40 years ago and some people still hate me.

On the way home my car shot craps. The next day I called my dad, who was in Florida, about the car and he had already heard about me being a heretic. Not one of my better winters.

kholt, The only reason some Christians refuse to accept the possibility of evolution being a fact, is because they cannot stand the prospect that their ancestors were once a lower classed specie than the picture described in Genesis in the bible. They should remember that Genesis was based on oral history, and legend, that dated back farther than anyone can know, for sure. As with any story being handed down orally, the more people it goes through, the more changes get made to the story. Kind of that, passing a joke around a circle of friends, and seeing how different it is when it reaches the one that started it.

The evolution that seems to have happened, would have had a hard time happening by accident. I believe there was a guiding power that manipulated the process in some unknown way.
