what nonsense. oil industry has invested billions into research for alternative energy. do you think they want to be left behind? If there are alternatives which are cheaper or may be cheaper than gas/oil they want to be in it. solar cell labs have been supported from the 1960's and it was expected then it was going to be the new cheaper source of energy. Oil from rock was heavily invested in 1970's etc. Just look to the new types of oils that have life time lubricant.
