<It was Chen Sr (among others)... But it still did not work ... >

A LOT of people like what they think is a "strong man". Unfortunately, they often get him. Good and hard, to their later regret.

That's human nature, for lots of people, and there's an eons-long acceptance of thuggish alpha males as "leaders", going all the way back to our chimpoid ancestors.

We are going through a transition, thousands of years long, with increasingly voluntary relationships rather than dominance relationships. But there is a longgggg way to go.

We should not be surpised when another megalomaniac shows up and half a billion people die as a result. Noocular bombs are designed to be used to kill umpty million people. Until they no longer exist, we should assume that they will be used. Many of them anyway. Some might not be fired, or not work, or people will stop before full destructive capacity is achieved. After a few hundred, it will seem pointless to many to continue firing. But then again, the suicidal bloodiness of humans seems to know no bounds at times.

I'm sure I'd have far preferred Chen Senior to Mao's MADness.
