Same reason the Bush Admin should not work with the UN...we should work directly with reputable agencies on the ground over there right now to make sure the $$$ goes where it is needed, not to those corrupt scumbags at the UN....

This is exactly the same BS they pulled over the victims of 9/11. They used it as an excuse to raise general operation funds.

I don't think that's what's going on. They just don't want to throw unneeded money at, say, Florida just because they got a ton of extra money earmarked for Florida when there's a less subscribed disaster going on somewhere else. Some disasters are over-subscribed and some under-subscribed and they want the latitude to provide water and blankets in the under-subscribed one rather than caviar for the over-subscribed one.

The one with the best record doing that is World Vision. Hewett is pushing the hell out of them. kintera.org
