I like to watch the broader indexes mostly as a hobby,
since it is really difficult for anyone to accurately
predict their moves.
TA can be very helpful, but news very often trumps TA.
And as Yogi Berra put it so well "Suprises are almost
always unexpected."
The Stock Trader's Almanac is an interesting publication.
I tracked their monthly predictions for longs and shorts
this year and they were right about 50% of the time.
Imagine that.
Now they are serving up their annual "free lunch" lists:

Going with the flow

"I'm still in the bear camp, but I've learned to go with the flow where applicable."

Prudent choice, I need to do a bit more of it myself.

"Seems like it's become mostly forex/futs chat."

Those people seemed to have gone with the flow. The flow is in commodities and currencies lately it seems, so I may go with the flow a bit in 2005 and try some forex. I am not expecting to win for a couple years, but would like to learn that investment alternative the next time a big trend develops as did in 2004.
