I didn't get a chance to go out and get my orange ribbon today. I was busy watching the most handsome face of Leonardo De Caprio on the silver screen. BTW.....De Caprio is one of the most handsome men I've ever seen, so I don't feel like my afternoon was a waste....at all......no sire.

BUT.......I'll be leaving around 9:00 am tomorrow morning in search of the Orang Ribbon. Between that and all the emails and phone calls I've made over the last week, I feel like I'm doing my part.

When I was at the bank paying my VISA bill today I noticed a Bush/Cheney bumper sticker on the Chevy Tahoe at the primo drive up spot as I drove up. I pulled up next to it and honked my horn until the youngish (32ish) young lady behind the steering wheel rolled down her window. I was so blatant in asking her if she had voted for Dino Rossi....sometimes I surprise myself. She was taken aback (I could tell) but decided to take a chance and affirmed that she did indeed vote for Rossi. I told her about the "Orange Ribbon", and asked her to pass it on. Ohhhhhhh! She LIKED that! What a big smile she got on her face.

I'm sure I'll be finding other innovative ways to express my opinion in the coming weeks and months. I don't even want to talk about the email I sent to Sam Reed........it would make me out to be too much of an ogre.

Orange Ribbon
Reader Robyn Goodwin writes:

I am starting a grassroots efforts here in Thurston County, WA. to encourage everyone who sees that this election was a mess, to tie an orange ribbon on their car antennae (the color that the opposition team in Ukraine used). Could you please post this. I have contacted Rossi Headquarters, called in to NWCN, and called in and contacted KVI. Press on, Rossi!!!

This sounds like a wonderful idea for residents of the whole state. Let's not stop at cars: fences, porches and front doors seem like good candidates, too. I'll be wearing an orange ribbon on my lapel until election laws and procedures are reformed.

Ukraine County No More
You may have noticed that I've stopped calling King County "Ukraine County".

The people of Ukraine have taken their democracy back. It would be an insult to the proud and heroic Ukrainians to equate them with King County.

UPDATE: To answer the questions from various commenters whether we should remove the orange banner at the top of the page -- of course not. We learn from the example of the Ukrainians and fight to defend our own democracy just like they did.
