Searle,

I do tend to agree with you that "The Power of Nightmares" tended to inflate the independent power of al CIAda. The most amazing thing to me is that the American public are not absolutely livid and totally up in arms about the vast expense to them to fund covert operations that have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with protecting the American public from foreign enemies.

Yesterday, I acquired a book called "Charlie Wilson's War" by George Crile:

I've barely gotten started, and already I can see the hand of the CIA on this best-seller. The author is a total fraud. He conveniently hides the fact that President Jimmy Carter signed an secret Executive Order in July, 1979 with the express goal of destabilizing the socialist govenment in Afghanistan:

The lying Crile re-writes history by claiming that Carter was "surprised" by the Soviet intervention on December 24, 1979.

Thus, the American public, even when the CIA engages in a "modified limited hangout" like the book "Charlie Wilson's War" is taught a completely dishonest fairy tale as official history.

It is maddening to see how easily duped the American public is in all this.
