Kids have always liked horror. For one thing babes and horror usually go together- and it's a repitilian cortex experience- sex and violence- the same thing that attracts all the young men to video games. People who are more thoughtful, and perhaps a little more distant from the old reptilian cortex, probably don't get as much of a thrill from such pedestrian entertainments. It's the equivalent of a mental roller coaster- which is a cheap thrill, but for someone with a lot of experience, it's pretty obvious, every twist and turn can often be predicted. Every horror movie has the same basic plot, and when you chart them they look amazingly similar- most of them now even have the "you think you killed him, but he isn't dead, and you relaxed" climax. Still, I must admit that their very obviousness and predictability, makes them the perfect tool to teach certain literary and film devices.

I am beginning to think the romantic comedy is getting almost as predictable as the horror movie. I'm really tired of seeing the same plots over and over again.
