Every cell in your body has/produces L-arginine, a natural amino acid. In fact your cells should be saturated with respect to it. It is found as well in meats and vegetables. But due to an effect called "the arginine paradox", the ingesting of it in therapeutic doses (3-5 grams per day and up) leads to certain measurable effects attested by many studies done in animals and humans. This is thought to be because certain enzymes are reduced when wounds, ageing or other disease processes encur. Arginine may reduce the effect of these enzymes.

Nitrates occur in many medicines such as acetylsalicilic acid, ibuprofen, and viagra. The occur in many amines in and in DNA.
The body has a natural need for them it appears. Doses of up to 31 grams a day in arginine have been given with no noticeable side effects, but some effects may be experienced. It has some effect on cyclosporins. (penicillin)

Arginine is known to be beneficial for migraine, cancer, aids, hypertension, cholesterol problems, and erectile disfunction. It is not advisable to take at therapeutic levels with viagra, or ibuprofen or where renal or liver conditions are evident. I would advise taking it under the advice of a physician who knows your history.

Read "precautions" etc, at the bottom.
