In our household, we can have four on the Internet at one time, each in our own rooms. The boys spend a lot of time together due to playing games. My husband and I share things we see in the news. I print out articles I think he'd find interesting, or email him links. We all discuss things that we've read.

We aren't all together in the same room at the same time like we would be if we were watching TV together, but I think it's really not much different than all watching TV or all reading, and for me, the quality of information is better than I see on TV.

My mom is staying with us for the holidays. The family chipped in to buy her a computer, and she got hooked up to the Internet yesterday. Now she's been bumped because Nick took back his ethernet cable, but she won't let me wake him up to get it back. I didn't get her a wireless card since she got DSL at her house in anticipation.
