Re: Britains nineteenth century economy. Opium being grown in India and being sold to China, the opium wars by Britain against China. I have posted lots of messages on SI {FFDG) about such events. They were posted before 2004 though and I can't seem to search on them. Here is a link on that time.. qub.ac.uk Yes, there were lots of bad things that were done during that time too. but I was not talking about those -g- /edit. Hey during the nineteench century lots of people took opium in Britain too. It was in most of the patent medicines for a start. I expect the people in positions of power knew they were doing wrong though.
