This thread really took off starting November 3, 2004. It had been pretty quiet until then. One might wonder, "What was so special about November 3, 2004? Was it anything of significance? Did something of importance happen? Why did people suddenly start posting on this thread?" Opinions could differ on those questions. Some might say it was the phase of the moon. Some might say that everyone suddenly developed a compulsive desire to post on threads whose titles began with the letter "S" Or one might conclude that people who were dismayed with the result of the election congregated here, with the expectation that those who were not dismayed with the result of the election would not congregate here. Some people have short memories of what it felt like to wake up on November 3, 2004; I don't.
