I, too, am using the Citi card for grocery and drug store purchases. Just put the full price of some new windows on American Express/Costco card. Use Discover for gasoline. Have another Mastercard for just about anything not covered by the others, but first choice is AMEX.

It's gotten to the point where I carry a list in my wallet to remind me which card to use for which thing. Ridiculous, but I'm not too proud to milk the system, either. If anyone offers another card with a rebate, I'll probably carry that one, too. :))

American Express charges really abusive processing fees with some merchants paying 10% - which is why merchants who accept Amex tend to have far higher prices.

what about Costco? the only card they accept is Amex, and combined with Costco membership you can get 3% cash back.
