Yes, sorry to leave you in the lurch, but I have enjoyed the peace and quiet....I guess I am suggesting that our approach to the topic is too abstract, we barely know the major players, or the intricacies of, say, Shi'ite politics, and in that context, we do not know what is happening, and cannot truly guess at the result, because too much, in the end, depends up who is where when: Churchill rallying Britain, FDR coming up with Lend- Lease, Franco refusing to join the Axis, Patton smashing the German line with a bravura move in the Battle of the Bulge, Speer ignoring a direct order from Hitler to start blowing up Berlin----- all sorts of things which affected, to a greater or lesser extent, the outcome of an historical event.........
