Who stands to gain most, the owner of the property or the optionee ?

In May 2003 Lakeshore (LSG.v) optioned a property in Timmins from Holmer Gold, giving it the right to earn a 50% interest. The work program was successful, so the now 50% joint owners have merged to advance the project. (An interesting story for anyone interested in gold-mining speculation in Canada)

Here's a graph that tells the story. At the beginning, LSG was trading at ~4 times HGM. At the merger, despite LSG having done all the work, its stock was deemed worth only 1.5 times HGM.
