New Zealand Government's immigration policy is designed to attract quality immigrants, that is to say, people that either have a good education and good skills to offer New Zealand or alternatively, a substantial amount of money to invest in New Zealand. Those individuals who have a good education and good skills to offer New Zealand but not necessarily a lot of money to invest in New Zealand generally apply under the category of immigration known as the "General Skills Category" which is commonly known as the "points system". On the other hand those individuals who have their own businesses and have accumulated a substantial sum of money usually apply for residence in New Zealand under one of the "Business" categories. <<The fourth point which we would like to make is do not expect Government assistance if you cannot find work in New Zealand. Remember that although we have an unemployment benefit i.e. (Government assistance for people who are not employed) that does not apply to a newly arrived immigrant for the first two years the immigrant is here. So, once you arrive in New Zealand you will know that for the first two years you cannot look to the Government for help if you do not find work.
