KLP said to look at RSTG - and it had a huge pop on Friday.

What do you think?

Hi Reid,

I didn't know that, thanks.

I guess that adds significant revenue. I think the average iPod goes for $400 or so. Another 20% would be a total of $500 per customer.

Still, in the long run, I think they will make a lot more from the download revenue stream. Once you've got an iPod, you'll always need to download stuff. Gift cards for downloads was a good idea and as iPods proliferate, will become more popular when people buy gifts. Download rate right now is about 900,000 per week, and that is without adding in the effects of the downloads from people who got gifts for xmas.

AAPL just got an upgrade. I guess this means Goldie managed to fill all their big clients' buy orders over the last few weeks ??

<ggg>

Note the second item.... as you know, my view has been that AAPL is using iPods as an iSteppingstone to the PC markets.

I think they realize that's where the iBucks are.

Goldman Sachs raises their already above-consensus FY05 and FY06 EPS ests to $1.62 and $2.02, respectively, vs consensus of $1.49 and $1.84, ahead of Macworld and the co's earnings report on Jan 12. Firm looks for extremely strong Dec qtr results, led by iPod, where they have raised their est to 4.5 mln units from prior 4 mln units, but also including strength in Apple's other consumer offerings as well as higher traffic and close rates in Apple's retail stores. Firm believes Macworld should feature key new product announcements centering around the flash-based iPod, an enhanced iPod mini, and several Apple software products.

UBS says Apple could be the #1 PC mkt winner over the next few years. The firm notes that consumers need to wait another year and half for new software from Microsoft. Apple's mkt share sits at only 2%, so the firm believes the co could be poised to launch lower-priced Macs to take advantage of its stable operating system and brand momentum from iPod. Firm believes low-priced Mac could help facilitate switchers from Windows as consumers seek innovation at Apple and desire better security and stability in an OS. In addition, sales of flat panels as a peripheral product is also an important growth opportunity for Apple.

Only problem will be if AAPL ramps strongly into earnings.... but with the market in correction mode, maybe AAPL won't rally too much on this news.
