Hi Dave,
1) FromID, ToID, and SubjectID and not to mention that it would be a much more costly query
Naw.. Speaking as a code monkey that works in a different 4GL here... Say the operation is 1) if something is added in the text-box portion of the Combo-box you do a find based on the alias (etc) entered to get whatever unique ID.. (you should be indexed by alias ? even if no unique it would still be fast and you must be doing that for login validation ) if none found tough luck... try again... I'm trying to keep my people and subject marks down but needing them for search is a pain.... overhead should not be high at all.

3) would make our boards more "Yahooish". OK this one is subjective.. BUT let's say for premium members once a month ? We're paying so we have something to lose if we don't abide by the rules... unlike Yahooligans.. or free SI accounts... and a search by alias to ID a user should not be a big overhead hit if as mentioned above you have non unique index for alias.. I don't care about alias history personally since if I know the user ID it's moot. The unique account is the smoking gun...

4) Bob is planning to allow users to categorize their SubjectMarks. Wow I'm trying to keep my subjectmarks to minimum... LOL.. Filing posts is great now (better than before and better than iHub now) But at any rate this is for external links mainly...
eg
China Wind Power interfax.com
OR Simmomds on Saudi Oil Miracle simmonsco-intl.com

It's better than using browser bookmarks in most cases (and it keeps in in iHub more :o) and would do likewise wrt SI... I go to iHub many times now to pick up one of my reference links ... since I'm lifetime there too I guess it's not a big deal...

Bear in mind my thinking is to make somewhere my onestop spot to tie together ALL my online accessible investing info... if it takes two place like say iHub and SI that's not too bad... but that's the where my thinking is going on this... that would be good for SI ?

6)
Interesting. Searching for [winning position got a] works. Oh, one of those bugs... they bite don't they...

regards
Kastel
