this would allow me to go to the thread a few posts before the post to me, then click on Next 10 and read the post to me without the system realizing I've read it.

The problem that would solve is neatly solved by use of the "Keep" link.

I love it. Now I can read all public messages to me even when my time is limited and just reply to the ones I can, and Keep the ones I'll want to reply to later.
