Mary, I love it when people trot out the racist word. It gives them a warm feeling of sanctimoniousnous and superiority, which, ironically, is just what racists want - maybe you are really the same people. It saves them from having to think, which is more difficult. It's a fun word to use. I like doing it too. Bubba and Yiwu the Mad are racists, for example.
Bought homes? They had to also buy bridges, roads, hospitals, schools, universities, sewerage, airports, spectrum management systems, parliamentary buildings, stormwater systems, water supply dams and pipelines, hydroelectric dams and wires and pylons, canals, wharves, libraries, art galleries, museums, telephone systems, forests, thermal power stations, tunnels, railways, railway stations, zoos, military equipment, police stations, courts, train umpty thousand people, and so on and on and on. Buying a house is just a start.
What do they do? They hop off the aircraft, flop their passport on the desk and lay claim to the whole lot, gratis.
"Consumed goods and services" - that's for sure!! Blocked the roads, emptied the taps, filled the hospitals, schools, universities and prisons, ran the electricity supplies low, filled the harbour with sewage, took the shellfish. As you really meant, they also bought goods and services, much of the goods Made in China, some of it with their own, earned, money [as against welfare handouts].
It's not racist to want to protect your own property. Maybe you just leave your front door open and anyone can just wander in and make themselves at home. I doubt it. You do spout a lot of hypocritical nonsense. <you do spout a lot of racist nonsense> How many immigrants, many of them illegal, contributing nothing and taking lots, do you have living in your house? Hahahaah!!! Come on Mary, get your auditing skills tuned up.
Then, apart from all those things which have been built by people, is the natural value which New Zealanders own [clean air, blue skies, rain, rivers, mountains, oceans, fish, harbours, oil, gas, coal, forests]. While we didn't produce them, we do own them according to international conventions. Just as Iranians own the oil the British found for them.
If we want more people, we should sell to the highest bidders, not give it to illegal entrants and random lottery winners.
Of course you are right that there are also many excellent immigrants, who have increased the average IQ and general well-being of New Zealand. That's beside the point.
