Exactly. Good post, Taro. The problem with the liberals on this thread is that they are so blinded by their hatred of Bush that they have unconsciously jumped on the "hate everything Americans do" bandwagon. That is the legacy of a polarizing president like Bush.

First, to categorize all liberals on this thread being in the same place is ridiculous. In fact, the liberals on this thread do not agree on all the issues. However, Bush has made us aware of how inappropriately the American gov't acts in the world. Secondly, we are not blinded by our hatred of Bush. On the contrary, its my discontent with Bush that has made me much more aware of the clandestine actions authorized by this country in the world.

Americans are told repeatedly we are the global great white knights. However, a closer look at past behavior suggests that that image is much tarnished. The current attitude and actions by the Bush administration did not start with him.....they started much earlier....probably with Pres. Eisenhauer and got much worse as time progressed. Reagan was nearly as bad as Bush but at least some of it was hidden from public view. Its probably only because of the net that Bush has not been able to get away with a lot of the garbage he's pulled.

I don't hate "everything" America does but I don't like a lot of what we are doing. Somehow we have slipped from our perch and are behaving rather irresponsibly for an enlightened country. Much of the world sees Bush in the same light as they see Putin.

I firmly believe that what you put out is what you will get back. What the US is putting out is a lot of caca. I don't see that as a good thing......and every well meaning, intelligent, concerned conservative or liberal should feel the same way.
