And I'll be honest....I know the Swiftvets had their own agenda. I'm not stupid. The one thing I'll say in their defense is that they were funded much like MoveOn.org (who didn't follow a whole bunch of rules in their attack ads) and there were 200 people who served near Kerry all claiming same thing. The Rather story (at least as we know it) was 1 source using 1 national news group that didn't ask enough questions to determine the merit of the document. Now if I went in with a piece of paper that said I saw Clinton inhale why do I think they'd give both me and the story a colonoscopy before they ran it? I can't help but connect the dots and *suspect* there was an attempt on their part to swing the election. Never in my life have I seen such a concerted effort between a film maker ,National news agency and Hollywood stars (some - not all) to try and disrupt an election. I really believe that the combination of all of the above AND Kerry making his Vietnam experience the centerpiece of his campaign cost the Democrats the election. Whether anyone will admit it or not Bush was very beatable in 2004. Had all of those things listed above not been botched so badly I think we'd have had the most liberal President in my lifetime if the oval office. That's how beatable Bush was.
