It all started with the giant sucking sound to Mexico, and then we had normalized trade with China - opening the Chinese "markets"- but what did anyone here think the impoverished Chinese were going to buy from us? The trade is all going one way.

It's a huge problem, and I totally agree with you that young people, who have no college education, will have very little to do- although I suppose they can "manufacture" burgers.

Here's an idea:

"Not One Damn Dime Day -Jan 20, 2005

======== stop spending money for a whole 24 hours....good idea. I wonder what would happen if it could be extended for a week and be blamed squarely on Bush?

The PR from that would be amazing:

American citizens say 'NO WAY' to Bush's increasingly insane deficit spending.

American business grinds to a halt while consumers zip up their wallets.

Walmart management and Chinese government experience collective heart attack as cheap goods pile up at ports and warehouses.

Americans spent more in Iraq this week than they spent in the entire US. "
..................................

Americans need to quit spending for a lot more than one day- credit card debt is killing a lot of people. If anyone here has credit card debt you are carrying, make 2005 the year you pay it all off. That's one of the best investments you can make- because you will get a guaranteed return.

Jan 20th 2005
I won't be spending anything on the day
