It makes kind of a big mess regarding everything.

Unsupervised, bored children are disaster waiting to happen. That's why I'm a big advocate of music lessons, band, theater, art lessons, and some PARENT being home with the children- mom or dad it matters not, but I think parental involvement is crucial. If you simply throw money at the problem, to make your children disappear, and let other people take care of them, people who don't have a parent's emotional investment, I think kids get a really distorted message from that- but that's just my opinion.

Nothing is more important than raising one's own children. The second most important thing is helping other people raise theirs. Children are the future- they will take care of us in our nursing homes; they will be our doctors and our nurses; they will take care of our cars, and our food supply, and our medications, and teach our grandchildren. Without young people to take our places in the world, society would stop- and our own children can't possibly fill all the jobs, so other people's children had better turn out well also. Even people who do not have children of their own will expect to be taken care of in their old age, and served, by the young people of today (I hate it when I hear childless people say they shouldn't have to support the education of children- who do they expect will take care of them when they are incontinent in the nursing home?)- so we all of us should be helping them grow in to productive and healthy adults.

:-)

This turned in to a bit of a rant. Sorry about that.
