I mentioned that. It's somewhat of a side issue, but I was using it was a case where whole life insurance makes sense. It's complicated to be sure, but it's widely used.

There are other benefits to insurance trusts. THe cash value and proceeds are protected from creditors (your's and your heirs') forever. If your spouse or other heirs marry, the trust assets (via subsequent trusts) are protected from their spouses, creditors, ans spouses' creditors.
